This afternoon I was baking cookies. I went to take them out of the oven and when I came back in the room this is what I found.
I'm still wondering how Amelia got there when she was sitting up in the boppy facing the other direction.

Bottles
Amelia and I have been struggling the past couple of weeks. Every time we sit down to have a bottle she gets so fidgety! She scratches, pinches, plays with her feet, and recently has decided playing with my boobs is fun. I've been getting so frustrated with her!
Around the same time she has also started to pick up the bottles when they are empty and put them in her mouth. So I'm thinking if she can put it in her mouth empty why can't she when it's full. So I'd try to put her hands on the bottle and she'd rip them away from me. Finally I just let go of the bottle myself and she'd pick it up. As soon as I put my hand on it to tilt it up she'd let go but it only took her two feedings to realize that if she took her hands off of the bottle I'd drop it. So now she's being a big girl and feeding herself. Mommy's happy and Amelia's happy.
It seems so funny to me that she didn't really want to be in charge of this because she likes to be in charge of everything!

Anniversary
Yesterday was our wedding anniversary. It's been 4 years! We always talk about how it seems like it was just yesterday that we were getting married but at the same time it feels like we've been together forever (in a good way.)
We went out to Dino's for dinner and thought about going to a movie but decided against it. Instead we went to kiss the baby goodnight (she got to sleepover at Grandma's) and steal some movies from my mom. Lucas told me we could watch anything I wanted to and I teased him that I was going to pick a cartoon but in the end I was in a Halloween mood and we watched the original Dracula and Alfred Hitchcock's Spellbound. It may sound like a lame not so very exciting time but we seriously haven't sat down to watch movies together for months. We've really been trying to limit going out to eat so Dino's was a very big treat.
It was also sister-in-law Rachel's birthday. (Yeah we stole her birthday thunder.) She loves hats and scarves and doesn't knit so it's always easy to make something for her.

Halloween
It's Halloween week which means I had to stop putting off finishing Amelia's costume.
On Tuesday we visited my mom at bowling so everyone could see her dressed up in her costume.
Wednesday she wore her costume to school.
The monkey was very soft and Amelia kept reaching over to touch his fur. Amelia and wonderbaby really seem to like each other. They talk and interact together quite a bit.
Wonderbaby decided to take Amelia's pacifier and I was shocked when Amelia didn't scream about this. In fact Amelia didn't have anything to say about it and only stared at her as if saying, "I thought we were friends!"
Tonight my brother Josh is having a party so there will be more pictures to share from that. The adults were told to dress up so Lucas and I scrounged up some outfits yesterday. I hear rumors that even my dad is going to dress up. It should be a fun time!

Random
Here are some random pictures that were on the camera I wanted to share.
She really loves her Daddy a lot!
Notice who has the remote.....
I had to take in a picture of her for a bulletin board at school and of course that means a new picture.
She couldn't find her pacifier one day so the rubber duck was good enough for her. (She did this all on her own by the way.)

Whoa
Totally lost almost a month there.
Amelia is loving her ECFE class. Today we went to a park for a fall walk. It's so much fun to watch the babies interact with each other. For class we begin by playing with toys which is followed by "circle time" where we sit in a circle ;-) and sing songs. My arms are really getting strong from circle time. My girl gets so excited about the songs and games that she has to bounce the entire time. She'll even bounce if I have her sitting down and she has a huge grin plastered on her face.
Here's her class enjoying the wonderful weather today.
My girl has also somehow in the past month suddenly learned to sit up pretty well on her own.
We started out using the boppy for support which works as long as the toys stay close to her. After they move farther away she usually leans too far forward and falls on her tummy, which she hates. She has pretty good balance now but hasn't figured out that she needs to keep the bouncing to a minimum if she doesn't want to fall over.
Earlier this week we went to pick pumpkins from a Hay by George stand with Grandma and Kirsten.
Other activities that have taken place in the past month include:
* Taking 6 month pictures (Hopefully I can take some time to finish reviewing them tomorrow)
* Helping my brother reshingle his roof
* Re-shingling our roof
* Play dates (Discovering Amelia really really really likes the swing at the park)
* Making Christmas presents and gifts for other events
* Many many trips to the library (we like to visit Gus the rabbit)
* Thinking that Amelia is saying Da da, I'm not sure she's connected yet what she is saying but Lucas sure loves to hear it
* Taking a journey to learn about whole, real foods. Which in turn means a lot of home cooked from scratch meals and food.
* Planning and goal making, communicating more than ever, setting budgets
* Date night budget meetings (this could sound boring but usually lead to some very fun and interesting conversations)
Hmmm.....that's all I can come up with for now. We may be busy but I'm sure enjoying our life and the direction it is taking. Our little girl really has been a wonderful addition to our family and we constantly thank God for blessing us with her.
