Evelyn Marie came into the world on her due date January 30th at 9:37. She weighed 7lbs 6 oz and was 20 inches long.
She was born at home like we planned but ended up being born by land as the midwife says instead of in the birthing tub. I did hop into the birthing tub for awhile but it just slowed down the labor. The nice thing was it gave me a break from the strong contractions and allowed me to sleep for a little bit. Once I got out of the tub to hopefully get things going again everything began happening pretty quickly.
My water broke after getting out of the tub and two hours later I caught my baby girl as she came into the world. It was so empowering to catch my own baby! I was able to have the natural homebirth that I wanted and the only hiccup was in my excitement of finally holding my little girl I had no motivation to push out the placenta. After a couple of hours I had to finally find the determination to just get it over with otherwise I was headed to the hospital and I did not do everything else at home just to go to the hospital for the placenta.
We have been enjoying getting to know the newest member of our family and her personality is already showing up. She adores Amelia and Amelia loves her just as much. Evelyn will usually not startle when Amelia yells by her. She will stop crying if Amelia comes up and begins talking to her. She smiles and coos at Amelia all of the time. Evelyn also recognizes Daddy and likes to play games with him like zooming around the house. Of course she knows Mommy and when sees me usually sticks out her tongue to say, "should we nurse now?"
So now we know that our little Sprout is a precious little girl with an enormous amount of hair!
