Camping

We went to Minneopa for camping again this year.  Of course we had to go check out the falls.  Amelia insisted on wearing her rainboots.

She was so excited about the falls she wouldn't look at the camera.

Evelyn chose to nap as usual.

Amelia spent most of her time making mud pies.

When Evelyn woke up she was surprised to see the falls.

Amelia was climbing around on the trail like a big kid.

We went to visit Seppman mill and go for a hike.

We sampled some berries while hiking.

We saw a lot of butterflies!  We found snake homes, smelled flowers, looked at bumblebees, listened to crickets, at observed some coo coon poo (aka raccoon poop.)

We even found a feather on the way back.

We did a lot of relaxing.

Snuggling

Reading

and napping.

We borrowed a friend's popup camper and Amelia was super excited about the refrigerator.  She kept hiding things in it and serving us from it.  Her favorite things to serve were milk, bananas, strawberries, and pizza.

We went on a second hike to see more of the park and Amelia decided to turn this rock into a slide.

 Reading daddy's mag.

Amelia spent a lot of time hiding behind this tree and popping out while yelling, "AHH! I scared you!"

We had a lot of fun and the girls were exhausted by the time we got home.

Amelia is still talking about how we went camping and how she had fun and wants to do it again.

Random June

Enjoying dinner.

We went to Papa John's for father's day weekend.  Amelia had a lot of fun exploring around the house and farm.  The weather was wonderful for enjoying the popsicles Aunt Kait made for us outside.  Good thing since they were pretty messy!

Evelyn's first ponytail!

Snuggling Sophie the Giraffe.  This is one of  Evelyn's favorite toys.  She also loves sitting in the Bumbo, is rolling quite a bit and almost sitting  by herself.  Some days are more wobbly than others.

Potty training has come to a standstill.  When I asked her why she didn't want to wear undies she said, "Mommy, I pee pee peed on Elmo undies!"  So apparently she doesn't care that I can clean them, she doesn't want to pee on them at all.  I hear so much of me in that statement.

Amelia has been enjoying the pack of Curious George tattoos we got for her birthday party.

Evelyn keeps reaching for our forks and plates.

One night when daddy called us from work and Amelia was helping me in the kitchen she told him "I'm makin cookin!"  She's such a character!

We enjoyed Songs on the Lawn during June.  If you ask Amelia it's "Songs on the Lawnmower."  There is always a craft project to do.  One week was people shaped air fresheners, another was a wind sock, and the last week was this fourth of July inspired necklace.  Of course being my moody toddler she wouldn't dance until the last week!

We've been enjoying going to the Children's Museum on days that it's too hot or rainy to go outside.  Here are all the Mommies and babies from our Tuesday play group.

Amelia and Allie sharing sand.

Evelyn  is a hot baby.  She sweats all of the time!  I can never put her in anything more than a onsie for bedtime and even with that she sweats a lot.  These hot days in June and July have been a little tough when we are out and about so we try to be creative on helping her get some airflow and not be so hot.

Play Day

Rasmussen Woods had a Play Day one Friday in June.  It was sponsored by MSU and the Children's Museum and featured activities that were no or low cost.  Amelia was super excited to paint.  She was having so much fun she had paint everywhere!  It was all over her hands, arms, and face.  A picture of her painting actually made it into the paper.

Here she was having fun rolling marbles down the noodles.

Building with blocks.  Amelia is really into making towers right now.

She had so much fun and then we got to see a snake on the way out which just completed the day for her.

"I'm too big for the horse"

We went to visit Hilary and her horse Cooner in June.  Amelia wasn't sure about Cooner at all.  I thought maybe she would warm up to him with Daddy brushing him.  Nope.  Her response was, "I'm too big."

Evelyn took a nap, like usual.  She can't help herself, when she gets in the sling and is all snuggled up to mommy she just has to nap.

Maybe Amelia would warm up to Cooner after watching Hilary ride him around for a little bit.

Nope.  So then Daddy rode Cooner.

Nope.  She's still too big!

She started to get annoyed with everyone trying to get her to interact with Cooner.

Nothing was going to get her on that horse.  She didn't even want to touch him.  Then Hilary asked if she wanted to give Cooner a treat.  At first she said no, but I told her his treat was a cookie.  Well, if he needed a cookie she wasn't going to keep that from him.

She's still talking about how she's too big to ride Cooner, but she has taken an interest into horses at home.  She keeps asking to read horse books and has been playing with the horses we have.  We are going to go visit later this year and maybe she'll have changed her mind about riding him by then.

Jumperoo & Papa

Evelyn tried out the Jumperoo at the beginning of June.  She thinks it's awesome.  She isn't really jumping a lot right now but she loves to play with the toys and mommy loves that the toys can't be thrown on the floor.

Papa taught Amelia a new game for restaurants.  She now loves to blow the paper off of the straws.  He's so desperate to get her to sit by him that he'll teach her anything or do anything for her (like give her 3 or 4 fortune cookies) even when mommy is glaring at him.
