Amelia is 1 month old!

I can't believe she is already over one month old!  I know people always say that time goes by very quickly especially when you have children but I didn't think it would be this crazy.

We had several firsts last week:
* She smiled at me very intentionally.  Totally love it!  She actually is trying to smile at me a lot since then, maybe it's because I get so excited when she does.
* We read our first book, "Goodnight Minnesota." She seemed to like it and studied the pictures.  Since then I've added reading books at bedtime.
* We went on our first out of town shopping trip with Grandma.  She was wonderful!  She did a great job in the car and hardly said anything all day.  We were able to go to Joanns in Shokapee, Eagle Creek quilt shop, and the Yarn Garage.
* She cried and screamed from 7-11:30 two nights in a row.  The first night was before our shopping trip and the next night was after our shopping day.  What a horrible part of parenting!  There was just no way to soothe her and get her to calm down.  I knew that she was hungry but I couldn't get her to latch on and the only thing we ended up doing was waiting for her to wear herself out.  :-(
* I instilled a bedtime routine after this.  Now we try to beat that 7:30 freak out.  After dinner we read a couple of books.  Then I either give her a bath or wash her face and she gets in her pjs.  I shut the blinds making the room dark and play ocean sounds from a crib music box.  Then she nurses until she falls asleep and I put her in her crib.  This seems to be working better, although it takes me awhile to actually get her in her crib I'm definitely enjoying bedtimes without crying.
* Our last first: She is enjoying bathes more and more.
